We cordially invite you to participate in our workshop on July 14-15th, 2022, in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN, titled "Teaching atmosphere, ocean, and planetary fluid dynamic fundamentals vividly with rotating tanks."  Check out our promotional video, https://youtu.be/u_6XEdV57wg, the workshop webpage, https://serc.carleton.edu/earth_rendezvous/2022/program/morning_workshops/w9/index.html, or keep reading to learn more.

Rotating tanks are a powerful teaching tool from the elementary through graduate school levels, from generally inspiring students to pursue STEM to rigorously teaching the physics of planetary fluid flows that underlie weather, climate, ocean circulation, and planetary interior fluid motions.  All participants will be given a complete DIYnamics rotating tank kit to take home with them (and hopefully use in their classrooms!).

We invite participants from all instructional levels as well as from informal educational venues (museums, science enrichment programs, etc.) and with any prior level of experience with rotating tanks.  The workshop will take place over two 3-hour sessions (8:30-11:30am on Thursday, July 14th and Friday, July 15th).  This is part of the broader, week-long Earth Educators Rendezvous (EER; https://serc.carleton.edu/earth_rendezvous/2022/index.html).  Participants of our workshop will have access to all other sessions on those days of EER that they register for (which can be just Thursday and Friday up to the whole week).  For example, on Thursday afternoon is the "Teaching Atmospheric Dynamics to Improve Learning and Engagement" mini-workshop: https://serc.carleton.edu/earth_rendezvous/2022/program/afternoon_workshops/w10.html.

Space in the workshop is limited and participants must register in advance for EER, selecting our workshop when they do.  The deadline for the early registration rate is May 3rd, so please don't delay!  Register here: https://serc.carleton.edu/earth_rendezvous/2022/registration.html.  Funds may be available to cover travel and/or registration costs on a case-by-case basis; we don't want availability of funds to be the deciding factor for anybody.  Simply contact us if you may be in need of support.  We sincerely hope you'll join us!

    Best regards,
The workshop organizing committee: Spencer Hill, Jon Aurnou, Indrani Ganguly, Alex Gonzalez, Juan Lora, and Jordyn Moscoso
