US CLIVAR is accepting abstracts for our upcoming workshop on Optimizing Ocean Observing Networks for Detecting the Coastal Climate Signal, now through February 9th 2024! The workshop will take place in Boulder, Colorado (and virtually), April 3-5, 2024.

The workshop will bring together operators and users of coastal ocean observing systems to identify key science issues in detecting and responding to coastal climate change in the coming decades. It aims to gather community input that will enable the ocean observing system to better capture regionally varying impacts of the changing climate along coasts. The focus will be on in situ sampling of physical and biogeochemical parameters from the coastline to the edge of the US Exclusive Economic Zone, in combination with remote sensing measurements and modeling, to enable detection of climate signals. Presentations focused on operation, design, and use of the observing system for detecting and understanding coastal climate change impacts are welcome. Most presentations will be posters (in-person and virtual) with a few submissions selected for short (~15 min) talks.

The workshop will be hybrid, with in-person and virtual presentation options available. Your abstract will be reviewed by the Scientific Organizing Committee following the submission deadline, and confirmation of acceptance will be provided by late February.

Please note that submitting an abstract does not automatically register you for the workshop. Registration is now open! The cost is $250 or $125 for students, early-career, and underrepresented participants. Students, early career scientists and US participants from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds may request travel support during registration now through February 16, 2024. For those who submit an abstract, the US CLIVAR Project Office will contact you to ensure you complete your registration. For questions, please contact Alyssa Cannistraci at acannistraci@usclivar.org.
