Help students learn about atmospheric scientists with disabilities by creating a career profile!

Are you a STEM professional working in the atmospheric sciences, with a disability? If so, we invite you to share information about your career path by completing this short Google form. Your responses will be used to create a library of STEM career profiles to share with middle school students, many of whom may have disabilities themselves. Help us to provide visibility and access to STEM career pathways for all learners.

UCAR's SciEd is working on an NSF GeoPaths project, called GLOBE Weather Pathways for Students with Disabilities. Over the course of three years, we will work with middle school science and special education teachers to provide training on the GLOBE Weather curriculum (developed by SciEd in collaboration with the GLOBE program), develop strategies and practices for adapting science curriculum to meet the needs of learners with disabilities (i.e., deaf/hard of hearing, blind/low vision, mobility), and support STEM career pathways for students with disabilities.

Learning about real people working in the atmospheric sciences - with disabilities - will help students connect to the concepts explored within their weather curriculum, as well as help students with disabilities see that they too have a place in STEM career fields.

Please take 5-10 minutes to complete the Google form by Sunday, 30 April 2023!

Questions can be directed to Melissa Rummel.
