Opportunities

UCAR is seeking nominations for the Board of Trustees, President's Advisory Committee on University Relations (PACUR), Members Nominating Committee, and Membership Committee. Nominations will be accepted through June 30, 2023. Self nominations are encouraged and you can nominate colleagues too. Learn more and submit a nomination here.

The Board of Trustees is responsible for setting UCAR's direction. Trustees sit on three board committees: Personnel, Audit & Finance, and NCAR Budget and Programs. The UCAR Board is a working board with fiduciary responsibilities and Trustees are expected to attend meetings and contribute to strategic planning.

PACUR is responsible for helping UCAR and NCAR stay connected with the university community. They meet virtually monthly to talk about relevant topics like Early Career Planning, NCAR NESTs, MSI engagement, and other topics where staff need their perspective or where the university community needs the UCAR|NCAR perspective. They also plan the October Annual Members Meeting.

The Members Nominating committee meets virtually annually to review nominations and select candidates to bring forward to the Members for their vote at the October meeting. These committee members must be current Member Representatives.

The Membership Committee is responsible for reviewing renewing membership applications and for soliciting new members. They typically meet virtually in December and January and then once in the summer. They also participate in site visits for new member applicants. 

These opportunities are an excellent way to network with peers and to contribute to UCAR's direction and place in the Earth Systems Science community.
