The School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (EAS) at the Georgia Institute of Technology, seeks candidates for multiple open-rank tenured/tenure-track faculty positions in Climate Science, anticipated to begin in August 2023. This search is part of a cluster hire in Climate Science and Climate Change Impacts. We are seeking candidates interested in understanding the mechanisms of the climate system through a variety of approaches, including theory development, observational data synthesis and diagnosis, remote sensing, paleoclimate reconstructions, regional and global climate modeling, and machine learning / artificial intelligence. Areas of particular interest to the department include oceanic and climate dynamics, clouds and cloud-aerosol interactions, carbon and methane cycles, extreme weather and air-quality events, land-atmosphere interactions, hydroclimate, the cryosphere and sea level change. We anticipate several climate-related hires in coming years, and are seeking to strengthen the role of the school as a leader in both the fundamental science of climate and in addressing climate change with scientifically driven solutions.

The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate and connect with other scientists; build a vibrant, externally funded, and internationally recognized research program that addresses scientific questions of fundamental significance in climate science; and provide high-quality teaching, mentor students, and advance equity and inclusion.

An earned doctorate in Atmospheric Science, Oceanic Science or a related field is required before start of employment.

Please include a CV, a statement of research interest, a teaching statement, a statement that summarizes your past or potential contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion in research, teaching, or mentoring, as well as a list of at least three references who could provide a letter on your behalf upon request through the Georgia Tech online portal at: Georgia Tech Careers

Requests for information and pre-application enquiries from senior candidates should be directed to Dr. Annalisa Bracco, Search Committee Chair, at abracco@gatech.edu.

Applications will be considered beginning October 1, 2022, but the search will continue until the positions are filled. Georgia Institute of Technology is located in Atlanta, Georgia and is consistently a top ranked educational and research institution. The School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences is highly interdisciplinary and covers broadly all fields or Earth and space science. EAS hosts a distinct interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Ocean Science and Engineering in collaboration with the School of Biological Sciences and Environmental Engineering, and contributes to the Ph.D. program in Quantitative Biosciences.
