The Department of Geosciences at Texas Tech University is hiring two open rank, tenure-track positions in Atmospheric Science as part of a university-wide Atmospheric Hazards Strategic Initiative in partnership with the TTU National Wind Institute. We seek applications from Atmospheric Scientists with experience in (1) using artificial intelligence/machine learning to extend numerical weather prediction; and (2) precipitation physics, including the intersection of precipitation extremes with severe storm and hurricane hazards using remote sensing and/or modeling approaches. Both positions will advance physical/mathematical understanding of the atmosphere to address atmospheric hazards that are becoming more frequent and more intense in a warming world, while growing resilient communities.

Detailed descriptions of the Precipitation [1] and Data Science [2] positions include full application information. To ensure full consideration, please complete an [online application at the Texas Tech Careers site [3], applying to requisition 42621BR (precipitation) or 42556BR (data science). Applications close on 15 February 2026 for a start date of Fall 2026.
