NSF NCAR Education, Engagement & Early-Career Development
The NSF NCAR Undergraduate Leadership Workshop (ULW) is a week-long immersion experience that gives undergraduate students a chance to explore careers in the atmospheric sciences, meet with NSF NCAR scientists and private-sector professionals, and connect with peers from around the nation. Students learn about different leadership styles, recognize leadership qualities in themselves, and polish their skills in communication styles, building collaborative networks with colleagues and creative problem-solving. Additional topics include scientific leadership, science and society, and diversity and inclusion. The ULW is a great opportunity for your students to meet NSF NCAR scientists and private-sector professionals, and to connect with peers from around the nation. For a student to be considered for the ULW, both a faculty nomination and a student application must be submitted. Please consider supporting the nomination of an undergraduate by March 22, 2024.

The ULW encourages applications from individuals who are members of a group that is historically underrepresented in the atmospheric and related sciences, including students who are black or African American, American Indian or Alaska Native, Hispanic or Latino, female, LGBTQIA+ students, first-generation college students, veterans, and students with disabilities.
