UCAR has nomination slots available for credentials to attend one or two weeks of the UNFCCC COP 31 in Antalya, Turkey, as part of the UCAR delegation.   The conference will be held from Monday, November 9 to Friday, November 20, 2026,

If you are a scientist or UCAR community member who is interested in being nominated to attend this year's UNFCCC COP, please fill out this google form by COB, Monday, July 27th. We are asking for a statement of interest summarizing your reasons for participating in COP31, and preferred week of attendance.

The  UNFCCC closing date for nominations is typically the end of July.  Once nominations have been submitted and we are notified of our slot allocation, the Science Observer committee will make selections based on the provided statement of interest. We will do our best to accommodate UCAR employees and affiliate members alike.

Information for potential participants can be found here:https://unfccc.int/cop31/. The site will be updated as information becomes available.

UCAR is an observer RINGO (Research and Independent Non-Governmental Organization) and these credentials will allow access to NGO area activities including high-level events, side events, exhibits, media activities, as well as observer access to some negotiations.

Participants should plan to secure their own travel funds. If you do not have travel funds, there are also virtual participation options (please still fill out our form). To allow more UCAR community members to attend, consider applying for only one week of the two-week COP.

Inquiries can be directed to Christine Shields, shields@ucar.edu (Designated Point of Contact), or Mari Tye, maritye@ucar.edu, (Deputy Point of Contact).
