Session description: GC012 - Advancing Global-to-Local Modeling Frameworks to Improve Management of Hydrologic Extremes.
Hydrologic hazards like droughts and floods are caused by complex interactions between physical processes occurring across a range of temporal and spatial scales in the atmospheric, oceanic, and terrestrial systems. Effective planning for hydrologic extremes requires knowledge of the multiscale drivers causing these hazards and how their impacts manifest at local (e.g., community or watershed) scales.
We invite presentations on advancements in global-to-local modeling frameworks that improve our understanding of the drivers and impacts of hydrologic hazard events across scales to support adaptation planning and hazard mitigation. Presentations that showcase how earth system model data has been integrated into local or regional decision-making processes for water management, infrastructure resilience, and/or adaptation planning are also encouraged.
