GDEX is now entering Phase II! Your spooky guide to what's next.

Ghost the silos. GDEX is data's home on the range.

As the NSF NCAR Data Commons Initiative enters Phase II, our goal is to ensure all staff have access to the new resources offered by the Geoscience Data Exchange (GDEX). GDEX is the unified platform that transforms how we manage and share data, enabling AI/ML readiness and collaboration in Earth system science.
As spooky season approaches, here are your ghastly tasks:

    1. Channel Casper, the Friendly (Compute) Ghost

Think of Casper as our "friendly ghost": always there, ready to help, and it definitely won't vanish when you need it most.
Casper is now the central hub for data access, analysis, and collaboration. No ghost-hunting gear required; please test your access with your NSF NCAR credentials.
If you need help or run into any issues, contact datahelp@ucar.edu.

    2. Haunt the GDEX repository

We invite you to experience the GDEX advantage – if you dare! Built for collaborative growth, GDEX empowers researchers to share data and models that drive discovery, connection, and innovation.
Explore, test, and discover the benefits of using GDEX:
    • Connect with streamlined, analysis-ready resources built to support your research.
    • Place your data where others can find it, and in return, discover newly shared datasets that connect directly to your own work.
    • Access NSF NCAR's national-scale data and compute power (Derecho, Casper, CIRRUS) alongside your data.
    • Create and test AI/ML models more easily with FAIR-standardized formats and metadata-rich infrastructure.
    • Search in a single, unified platform to discover cross-domain, analysis-ready datasets that were once scattered and hard to find.
    • Engage with your scientific community with new streamed and remote delivery options.
    • Create your own analysis-ready datasets with cross-domain insights.

    3. Keep your eyeballs peeled for hair-raising opportunities

Stay alert: Keep an eye(ball) on your inbox, training opportunities, and roadshows are coming soon.
Is a tech issue giving you the creeps? If you're running into an issue, please contact NSF NCAR Research Data Help Desk (datahelp@ucar.edu | datahelp.ucar.edu).

Final reminder - don't be last! The lights are flickering, the door's half open, and you don't want to be left behind.  Please test your Casper access and test out GDEX today!
