This course features an interactive wave calculator and Pacific Island examples to explore how waves shoal, break, dissipate, and produce coastal run-up and set-up over fringing reefs. You'll investigate a variety of island wave scenarios, including long-period ocean swells and mixed, short-period wind waves, and examine how reef characteristics, bathymetry, and changing water levels influence wave transformation.
