We encourage you to join us at Southwestern US Weather & Water Resilience Across Timescales, a 2-day workshop focused on precipitation processes, water resilience, and precipitation predictability across Arizona and neighboring regions.
- When: November 18–19, 2026
- Where: University of Arizona, ENR2 Building, Tucson, AZ + virtual participation
- Registration deadline (required): August 15, 2026
- Abstract deadline (optional): August 15, 2026
The workshop will bring together researchers, resource managers, natural hazards planners, and forecasters to discuss:
- Operational forecasting and planning needs for water resilience
- Scientific gaps in precipitation processes, impacts, and predictability
- Opportunities for coordination around current and planned field campaigns, such as the Department of Energy's DUSTIEAIM and NASA's ARID
- The potential development of an Arizona regional mesonet observing system
- New collaborative research and proposal opportunities
Confirmed speakers include Allison Aiken, lead investigator for DUSTIEAIM, Andrew Feldman and Shawn Serbin, lead investigators for ARID, Cindy Kobold of Arizona Public Service, Tom Dang from the National Weather Service, and Meg Fowler with NSF NCAR's Earth System Predictability Across Timescales initiative.
