Consider submitting your abstract to the session: Partners in the Storm: Navigating the Complexities of Collaboration in Extreme Weather Research as part of the Conference on Empowering Excellence: Building Collaboration, Respect, and Innovation for a Thriving Weather, Water, and Climate Enterprise as part of the 107th American Meteorological Society Annual Meeting.

Drawing on the NSF NCAR Innovator Program, this session explores how cross-disciplinary, cross-sector collaboration drives innovation, and the challenges of navigating it. We invite submissions on co-developed research and partnerships addressing extreme weather events (floods, droughts, heat, tropical cyclones, space weather, and more), involving partners such as government agencies, NGOs, nonprofits, emergency managers, the private sector, and research labs. Contributions should go beyond results to reflect on the collaboration process itself, including institutional, timeline, and priority-related challenges, and partnership models that help overcome them. We also welcome discussion of how these partnerships shape the research design, improve the research outcomes, and facilitate the impact of the work.

Submit your abstract by August 11, 2026 at 5:00 PM ET.
