    This Summer, the Earth Prediction Innovation Center (EPIC) and the Unified Forecast System (UFS) community will deliver a four-day Unifying Innovations in Forecasting Capabilities Workshop (UIFCW26) at College Park Marriott Hotel & Conference Center in College Park, Maryland or online

    20-24 July 2026

    The theme for this year's workshop is A New Frontier: Optimizing New Technology in a Changing Weather Enterprise. The workshop will cover a range of topics including MPAS Integration, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning in Numerical Weather Prediction, Data Assimilation, and more. UIFCW serves as one of the main conduits to bring together the UFS community in support of NOAA's overarching goal: U.S. Leadership in forecasting through model consolidation, innovation and AI Integration.     Registration

    Workshop registration is FREE and can be completed here. This is a hybrid workshop and you are able to attend in-person, virtually, or a combination of both. In-person registration must be completed by Monday, July 6, 2026; there will be no on-site registration for in-person attendance. If you have any problems accessing or submitting your registration, please email support.epic@noaa.gov

    Trainings

    We are offering three trainings on Monday, July 20th: 

    • Introduction to Running NWS Global NWP Models in Development Mode,
    • Adding Idealized Test Cases to the UFS Hierarchical System Development Framework, and
    • Project EAGLE - Machine Learning Weather Forecasting on Microsoft Azure.
